The president was hospitalized with a high fever complicated by the presence of bacteria in the blood stream, as detailed by the Presidential Medical Unit. According to medical sources she’ll stay hospitalized at least until Wednesday.
This unexpected medical condition forced Fernandez to cancel a planned visit of her chilean colleague Michelle Bachelet and a conference with Pope Francis.
Health has been a constant issue during Fernandez administration, as she suffered several incidents, from hypertension to a cranial hematoma or a strong case of faringolaringitis that kept her out of office for 48 hours in October.
